Coots' Nook

Dear All, we had lovely warm weather yesterday which was perfect for sunbathing and rolling in the dust (hence the reason I didn't get a chance to go on line and blog).

Thought you might enjoy these pictures of some coots who live on the River Thames near Kingston. As you can see they have had a special home built for them by some friendly humans.

If you biggify the pictures you will see that Mrs Coot has a little platform to keep her and her eggs safe from predators and her husband is near by to keep an eye on things as well. I also like her little umbrella which helps keep the sun and rain off. Even though I am an evil hunter, I am not prepared to swim for my prey.

Ooh! That is so very cool. How nice of the prople to put an umbrella up to shade the momma.

If I were there, I think I'd sit near the shore and chitter all day. I like to wade so I might enjoy swimming. The father coot looks like he would protect the nest from intruders though

Wow Faz, that is very cool. :) I've never seen or heard of a coot before! The humans that built that platform are very nice. :)

Glad to hear you are having lovely weather. It is warm and sunny here in Munich too. :)

Hi Fazziekins. Well, we left a message last time not to pester you but to be sure you were happy and well.

I want a little boat like that, don't you??

Yes, I agree with the others, I would be on shore chittering like a madcat!

Hello Faz, thank you for stopping in my blog. Well, you are very beautiful, a real three-colour-lucky cat! You look likes our cat Bonnie. She is a lucky-cat, too. I wish you all the best with pawn-casts from Bonnie and Nicki. I will see in your blog again a.s.a.p. Lovely greetings, Birgit

Warm weather? What's that?

Love the luxury nesting platform for the coots! My mum and dad went to Amsterdam and saw lots of little rafts on the canals there with coots nesting on them, but none of them had fancy ramps, umbrellas or address signs!

What is a "coots"? It looks pretty close to being a large vishus bird, but maybe not quite large enough. Since it has a nice home there, and an egg to take care of, maybe it isn't interested in chasing cats.

Sounds like the perfect set-up. For a murder scene! Naw, just kidding, I know you little kitty, and even you have your limits in the animals you chase after. Plus those creatures look pretty big, don't want to run the risk and embarrassment of getting beat up by them!

Oh, that is kitty torture! If I was there, I think I'd have to charter a small punt and pay those coots a visit...
