Did you know that Antarctica is the coldest, driest and windiest continent, and has the highest average elevation of all the continents (I am not sure what that means but it does sound very impressive)?
Since there is little precipitation (e.g. rain type stuff) except at the coasts, the interior of the continent is technically the largest desert in the world - WOW! (Note to self: Remember to take something to drink and eat.)
There are no permanent human or feline residents and there is no evidence of any existing or pre-historic indigenous population. Only cold-adapted plants and animals survive there, including penguins, fur seals, mosses and lichens. I wonder if I will see any of these things on my next big adventure?
