Scotney Castle and the cats

Last weekend the humans went to see Scotney Castle which was owned by a lovely lady called Betty who adored her cats. Throughout the house you can see cats everywhere; in photographs, drawings and mementos. When she died in her 90s (2 years ago) she insisted her cat 'Puss' should live in the castle until his death. The house and grounds were given to the National Trust by Betty's late husband who now take care of 'Puss' and he still has the run of this beautiful house. I wonder if he is allowed to sharpen his claws on the antique furniture?

Unfortunately the humans didn't get to see 'Puss' whilst they were visiting (we think he was having a snooze) but they did see his statue in the fountain (scroll down to see 'Puss' - or one of his ancestors - catching a fish).

Oh Faz!! Any castle where the owners are devoted to cats is a beautiful place!! I love the statue of the cat & fish :) The place looks like it is a fun place for a cat to live. I bet the kitties were allowed outside too :)

What a grand place to live. Puss must be very happy, lots of chairs to sleep on.

Oh... I hope to be immortalised in stone one day too. I think that Puss can sharpen his claws on whatever he wants, it's his castle!

Faz - Crazy Lady says to thank you for the information about Scotney Castle. She and D.C. will be over there next week. She had already printed out something about Scotney Castle, but didn't know about the cats. That makes it a "do not miss" kind of place.

We are so happy Puss still has his home. Wouldn't it be nice if they adopted some more cats to keep Puss company.

The castle and grounds are lovely.
