Liverpool fun

Hi there, Fred & Ginger here, this is our final post from Liverpool with some random pictures that amused us. Like King Neptune above decorating these gate post on the banks of the magnificent Mersey and this pigeon sitting on the arm of a statue below.

Underneath is the largest Chinese arch outside of China. It was a present to the citizens of Liverpool in 2000 because they have the oldest China town in the world outside of the People's Republic. This impressive arch features two hundred carved dragons.

And, finally a Banksy. As some of you may know he is one of Faz's favourite artists and there are pictures of his graffiti rats all over the country. No one knows his true identity and he believes that art should be free and for the people. Nevertheless this run down old shop below is now worth £500,000 because of his painting on the side. We do so hope you all enjoyed our visit to Liverpool over the last week as much as we did. Purrs from us

Fabulous! I would love to see that Banksy work in person! Anyways, I hope you weren't a-scared of the giant rat!!!

The pigeon looks like part of the statue. That Chinese arch is really beautiful. It's sort of funny that a giant rat painted on a wall can improve property value. He's a little scary looking.

We've not seen the Banksy Cat before, it's rather good. For someone who believes art should be free we wonder why he doesn't give his gallery pieces away? In Bristol the council tore down a wall with an early Banksy piece on it, and there was so much uproar about it, the council had to rebuild it!

Thanks for educating us about the Chinese community in Liverpool, we had no idea!

That is an awesome Banksy piece! I wish that some of the graffiti artists in our city would be so artistically minded instead of just leaving ugly tags on private property...
