How's this for a Christmas Present?

The boy human was given this by one of the very nice photographers he works with.  It's a fish and it's smoked.
I wasn't so keen but Birks is in love.
Is it possible for a kitten to be in love with a fish?

Advice from me to Birks

Doesn't Birks know it's not safe to sit in the cat basket?  What happens if they put the top on and take him to the V. E. T. by mistake?  Get out of that basket Birks before something terrible happens!

Where's Birks Hiding?

As soon as I find him, he is in big trouble.

I know Faz has been saying mean things about me so I have catnapped her blog.
Do you think she will be amused?

Birks is one big ...

... if you get my drift.

New Water Bowl

This is our new water bowl.
It is quite good because it has running water,
but I think it looks a bit like a toilet bowl.

It's no wonder I get confused sometimes.

Birks is Back

He seems very unfazed about everything and is more energetic then ever.  And worse, now he can jump up even higher than I can, so there is no escape from his constant affections.

Today is the Day

Little Birks is at the V.E.T.  They said it would only take 10 minutes and after a bit of R&R he can come home after lunchtime.  In the meantime, I am enjoying the peace and quiet.

Only 48 hours ...

until Birks visits the V.E.T. and when he comes home there will be a little bit less of Birks than there was before (if you get my drift).

I am so naughty

I told Birkenhead this was comfortable to sit on.  Now I am hiding as he is coming to get me.  Oh well. FAZ

Warning - Highly Addictive Game

I am not sure I totally approve of this game as I don't want my human to get good at this particular activity.

Have fun!

Litter quality control

Birkenhead the litter inspector is checking his litter to make sure it meets his exacting standards. You can't be too careful when it comes to litter quality!

Why Birkenhead is called Birkenhead

The Lone Beader asked why Birkenhead is called Birkenhead.  This is because all of us – including Birk's and my before brothers and sisters – are named after towns in and around Liverpool where the boy human was born.  First, there were Runcorn and Widnes, then there was Kirkby and Bebington and, Faz is short for Fazakerley.

From Wikipedia:  Birkenhead is a town within the Wirral in Merseyside, England. It is on the Wirral Peninsula, along the west bank of the River Mersey, opposite the city of Liverpool (which includes the area of Everton, the boy human says Everton is really important and the best bit).

Historically part of Cheshire, Birkenhead is perhaps best known as a centre for ship building, as a Seaport and its related industries.

The Official Story!

I was NOT lying next to Birkenhead.
He snuck up whilst I was asleep so I didn't know he was there.
We are NOT furrends (yet).  FAZ

I love to howl at the moon

Is this normal for a cat?
p.s. this is the view from our balcony at St Leonards (very gothic huh?)

Has anyone seen Birkenhead?

I am sure he is around here somewhere?

Sunday, September 20, 2009

My goodness

Birkenhead sure has lots of energy. Isn't that what youngsters call 'birkdancing'?

The amazing travelling cat

Missing cat Clyde disappeared for three long years and was found 2,400 miles across land and sea from his Tasmanian home

A nurse found Clyde wandering at a hospital in the remote Queensland state town of Cloncurry and cared for him for four months before taking him to a local vet as she was leaving town and could not take him with her.

The vet, Donna Weber, traced Clyde's owner from his identification microchip and he was reunited with his delighted family.

I don't believe it ...

Birkenhead is now using my Gizzy - is nothing sacred?
He could get his own Gizzy here.

Thursday, September 10, 2009

You still here then?

I was hoping that Birkenhead might just be a temporary fixture, a visitor so to speak, but that's not the case. Apparently he's planning to stay so I expect I should get used to the idea.

Sleep, poop, and eat

Birkenhead, the squeaker kitten is so boring. Do you think if I give him a good BOP he will wake up?

Thursday, September 03, 2009

What's this?

Silly Birkenhead is playing in a shoe, doesn't he know shoes are meant for human feet not for kitten feet. Somecat needs to teach this kitten a thing or two.

I choose the name

In our house all my before brothers and sisters have been named after places in and around Liverpool. First there was the ginger dangerous brothers, Runcorn and Widnes, then tiny feral Kirkby, followed by Himalayan Bebington, then me rescue kitten (Fazakerley) and now I get to choose the next name for The Thing.

The choices below are Birkenhead, Egremont and Wallesey.

and I choose .... BIRKENHEAD (but I think I will always think of him as The Thing)

Day 1 - The Thing has arrived

Unfortunately, they won't let me beat him up - and believe me I have tried. Instead I am doing lots of hissing and yowling just to make sure he knows who is the boss around here.
