We were very sad to see two of these little wild boars dead on the side of the road when we were driving back from Hastings yesterday. Their poor mummy must be missing them dreadfully. Fortunately this little guy was rescued from a similar incident.

Dear drivers please take care on the roads, don't drive too fast and look out for little humans and all types of animals.

Birkenhead has just been to the vet and they told him he needed to start watching his weight. Apparently he has gone from 4.2kg to 4.6kg in just 12 months. Consequently the humans have put him on a diet. In fact he is so embarrassed he wouldn't let me show you a picture, so this is only a visual representation.

Birkenhead blames the fact that he has been locked in cat clink for a month whilst the humans were on holiday. Obviously I continue to maintain my perfect (if somewhat curvaceous) figure.

We've been in the Cat Clink whilst the humans have been here - Surfers Paradise Australia - they're back now and they broke us out on the weekend. It was just like a scene from Prison Break (without all the tattoos). We're so happy to see them and Birks and I are both glad not to be eating any more of that prison food. FAZ

The Big Issue Cat by Stuff n Nonsense

There's a Big Issue seller who has a pitch in the afternoons outside Angel Tube station.

A while ago, he found a stray cat with a badly bust up leg, so being a kindly soul, he took the cat along to an animal shelter to get it sorted out. He wasn't expecting them to tell him when the cat was healed, he was to take the cat back with him - but that's what they said and that's what happened.

The cat became incredibly attatched to its rescuer and would try to follow the man whenever he went out. Realising that cats do what they want, the man gave up trying to get the cat to stay home and allowed it to come with him and these days the cat will be sat outside the station as the man sells copies of the magazine, calmly guarding the takings and posing for photos.

Kitten survives hour in Aberdeen washing machine spin

An eight-week-old kitten has survived after being stuck in a washing machine cycle for an hour in Aberdeen.

Susan Gordon, owner of Princess, assumed she was elsewhere but the washing machine door opened to reveal her bedraggled and clinging to jeans. Princess was taken to vets and spent three nights being treated for her injuries. The kitten is now said to be fine, with no lasting damage from her washing machine ordeal. Judy Drysdale, senior veterinary surgeon from the Vets Now at Ardene House, said "Princess arrived at the clinic very shaken up and shivering, with a nose bleed and sore eyes.
"But her owner had managed to dry her off very well prior to bringing her in to the clinic.
"Princess was admitted to the hospital for emergency care, which included oxygen, and pain relief for her bruised body. "She was also placed on heat pads to bring her core temperature up to normal."

A frightened cat spent seven days stuck 100ft up a giant redwood tree - because the fire brigade's ladder was too short to reach her, it emerged yesterday. Mischevious tabby Tiggs, one, shot up the huge tree after being scared by a dog in a neighbouring garden at her home in Buckden, near St Neots, Cambridgeshire. Worried owners Natasha Moore, 22, and daughter Chloe, four, frantically hunted for the missing moggy but only heard Tiggs' cries from the lofty branch five days later. They called in the firebrigade and the RSPCA, but the 45ft ladder on the engine was still over 50ft short of reaching her in the tree.

This is part of a 5000 year old petrified forest on the beach near Hastings where we live. You can only see it a couple of times a year when the tides are at their lowest. It reminds me of Birks's head (soaked old wood - he he he - serves him right for stealing all my munchies last night).

This is a dog we saw in Hastings High Street the other day walking with his human. He had a lead made from scarves tied together and his human carried a piano accordion on his back. Where do you think they were going? I think they were going to find a street corner to busk in order to earn some money to buy food. Some dogs lead very interesting lives - some cats do too.

St Clement's Graveyard

This is the graveyard of a very old church in the Old Town, Hastings dating back to the 14th century. Among other things, it is famous for being the church where Dante Gabriel Rossetti married Elizabeth Siddal who was his muse and wife before she died an untimely death from laudanum (and possibly a broken-heart). The tombstones here are so old you can no longer read the inscriptions (not that I can read anyway) but the grounds are especially good for mousing and ratting. Now I am almost back to normal I quite fancy a bit of mouse for supper.

Dear Pals, thank you for all your very kind thoughts and wishes recently, it really helped my humans as they were feeling very concerned about me. Apparently there is a rather nasty cat flu bug circulating in the area and a number of cats have been poorly.

I managed to eat something yesterday and had a good breakfast this morning (and a good lick-bath too) so am looking better, am feeling better and definitely on the mend. I am also looking very slim and actually weigh less than Birks at the moment.

We do appreciate all your support and advice as it really did help us, you are such good blogging friends.

Still unwell

Faz is still very weak and not eating again, so vet tomorrow for the poor girl. We have tried tempting her with all her favourite types of food but she just isn't interested. Her beautiful fur is dusty and unwashed which is so sad to see.

Glad to hear from people who had the same foaming at the mouth problem with their medication as it has reassured us that it is not so serious. Your support helps us so much.

Faz is still poorly but did manage to eat some food last night so we are hoping she is on the mend. The medicine the doctor gave her made her foam at the mouth which was a little distressing but does seem to be helping.

We will let you know if she starts to improve further.

Birks here. Just thought I would let you know that Faz hasn't been very well. She has a sore tummy and won't eat (even her favourite foods) because it makes her throw-up. She went to the vet yesterday and they think she might have gastric flu so they gave her an injection and the humans have to give her Zantac three times a day. Faz is getting quite thin and is even more bad tempered than usual but I hope she gets better.
